OUR ORGANIZATION<\/strong><\/h4><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Frederick University is a private university operating in the Republic of Cyprus, a member state of the European Union. It began operating in September 2007 following a decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus and following the successful, long-standing course of the Frederick Institute of Technology in education and research. In January 2012, the University received its final operating license following a decision of the Council of Ministers.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The mission of Frederick University is to provide learning opportunities through teaching and research in the fields of science, technology, social sciences, and the arts, as well as to make a systematic contribution to the broader social context. The education offered is of high quality and leads to recognized qualifications that ensure the professional careers and development of the University&#8217;s graduates in Cyprus and abroad.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The main objectives of Frederick University are:<\/p><br><br><ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3\">\r\n \t<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">the promotion of science, knowledge, and education through teaching and research aimed at strengthening society,<\/li>\r\n \t<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">the dissemination, application, and scientific exchange of knowledge, and<\/li>\r\n \t<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">the provision of high-quality, internationally recognized undergraduate and postgraduate education.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><br><h4><strong>\u0399\u0399. DATA CONTROLLER<\/strong><\/h4><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Within the framework of providing Frederick University&#8217;s services, and in order to enhance their effectiveness, certain personal data concerning you is collected. Frederick University, as Data Controller, determines all the procedures, means, and purposes of the processing of personal data, in accordance with the requirements of the relevant European legislation on personal data (General Data Protection Regulation \u2013 Regulation 2016\/679).<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">More specifically, it has an obligation to facilitate the data subject whenever the latter wishes to exercise their legally and institutionally established rights. Some of the most fundamental rights of the data subject are those of information, access, rectification, erasure (&#8220;the right to be forgotten&#8221;), restriction of data, portability, and objection. The central importance of these rights can be summarized as follows: the data subject has the inalienable right to know not only that their personal data is being collected and processed, but also what that data is. They may request the correction of inaccurate information and its updating. They also have the right to request the deletion of data, subject to certain necessary conditions. In particular, they may take such action when, for example, the data is no longer necessary, they have withdrawn their consent, or the data is the product of unlawful processing. In all these cases, the person invokes harm to their personality.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Through this Personal Data Protection &amp; Privacy Policy (hereinafter &#8220;Policy&#8221;), we wish to present to you, indicatively, certain of our practices and policies regarding the collection, use, sharing, and processing of data collected from or about you.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">This Policy applies regardless of whether you access our website via your personal computer, mobile device, or any other technology or device. JOINT DATA CONTROLLERS AND RELATIONSHIP WITH DATA PROCESSORS<\/strong><\/h4><br>It is emphasized that in all cases where Frederick University enters into agreements either with other academic institutions or with other organizations\/associations\/bodies, they become &#8220;joint controllers.&#8221; In addition, Frederick University may assign certain tasks on its behalf to third parties (natural or legal persons). However, should such a data transfer need to take place, it will be carried out in accordance with the necessary safeguards established under European legislation (Regulation 2016\/679) and following prior cooperation with the national supervisory authority for the protection of personal data, namely the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Cyprus.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"><strong>DATA RETENTION PERIOD<\/strong><\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"><strong>4.1<\/strong> Your data is stored only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, in accordance with the principles of data minimization and storage limitation.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Based on these principles, your data will be retained for as long as your relationship with Frederick University continues. After the end of your contractual relationship, your data will be retained for longer periods for historical, research, and statistical purposes. In particular:<\/p><br><br><ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3\">\r\n \t<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">For former students or graduates, their data will be retained for a period of forty (40) years. After this period has elapsed, the absolutely necessary personal data will be kept and stored, pseudonymized, for a period of 60 years, based on the principle of data minimization, for archiving purposes in the public interest and for historical, statistical, and research purposes.<\/li>\r\n \t<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">For companies\/organizations\/other entities, after the end of their contractual relationship with Frederick University, their data will be retained for statistical and historical purposes for fifteen (15) years.<\/li>\r\n \t<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Data of prospective students, provided following their explicit consent, is stored for a period of one year at the University&#8217;s Archive Office, subject to the exercise of the rights provided for data subjects (information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection). After one year has elapsed, their data is deleted. It is understood that the University takes every appropriate measure (such as pseudonymization and encryption) to ensure the secure protection and processing of this data.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">In addition, we align the retention of your data with any variations arising from the exercise of your personal data protection rights. Access to this data is granted to the University&#8217;s Administration, the Deans of Schools, the Heads of Departments for academic purposes, as well as administrative officers in the course of performing their duties.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"><strong>5.2<\/strong> Data of other persons (such as suppliers or other individuals who cooperate with Frederick University under any form of contractual relationship), i.e., different from those in paragraph 5.1, are kept and stored in the Accounting Office of Frederick University, under the sole supervision of the Head of the Office. If you wish to terminate your cooperation or relationship with Frederick University, you may also contact the University&#8217;s Administration (if you represent a company or other organization) or the Registrar&#8217;s Office (for students). We will comply with such requests, unless we have a legal obligation and\/or legitimate interest in not deleting the data.<\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"><strong>SECURITY<\/strong><\/p><br><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"><strong>8.1<\/strong> Frederick University takes every necessary, appropriate, and suitable measure to safeguard your personal data undergoing processing, so as to prevent or minimize any infringement thereof. These measures comply with both modern best practices and the requirements of European legislation. Indicatively, the techniques of pseudonymization and encryption are mentioned. Naturally, other methods are also employed, such as the creation of strong security passwords, monitoring and detection actions under lawful conditions, and strict adherence to a confidentiality policy.
