The Postgraduate Program in Psychology Applications in the School Community is awarded in the public sector and provides students with specialized knowledge and skills based on the integration of theory, research and practical applications of school psychology and other branches of psychology in the school community.

The Postgraduate Program “Applications of Psychology in the School Community” offers a comprehensive framework of knowledge and skills that connects theory, research and practical application of school psychology in the modern educational environment. The goal of the program is to develop specialized professionals who can effectively support the learning, emotional and social development of children and adolescents in the school context.

The program places particular emphasis on the utilization of modern psychological and pedagogical approaches to enhance learning, psychosocial adaptation and well-being of students. At the same time, it focuses on the development of skills related to the prevention, early intervention and management of complex issues that affect school life, such as learning difficulties, emotional and behavioral challenges, school violence and crises in the school community.

Particular emphasis is placed on supporting students with disabilities and/or special educational needs, through scientifically documented practices that promote inclusion, equal participation and school success. At the same time, students develop skills in planning, implementing and evaluating psychoeducational interventions that respond to the needs of the school community.

Upon completion of their studies, graduates acquire the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, students and other professionals, contributing to the creation of a positive, safe and inclusive school environment. At the same time, they develop research and analytical skills that they can utilize both in their professional activity and in the continuation of their academic career.

Upon completion of the “Applications of Psychology in the School Community” program at Frederick University, graduates are expected to:

  • Apply psychological and educational theories to the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions in the school environment.
  • Utilize psychological principles to enhance learning, motivation and psychosocial well-being of students.
  • Effectively communicate school psychology issues to teachers, parents, students and other stakeholders.
  • Synthesize knowledge from the fields of psychology and education to make informed decisions in the school context.
  • Identify and address emotional, social and behavioral difficulties of students with appropriate psychopedagogical approaches.
  • Design, implement and evaluate psychoeducational programs and interventions that meet the needs of the school community.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support students with different educational and psychosocial needs.
  • Utilize research data and modern scientific practices to improve educational and psychological support in school.

The program is aimed at psychologists, teachers of all levels, special educators and professionals in related scientific fields who wish to delve deeper into school psychology and its applications in the educational environment. It is an ideal choice for those who seek to strengthen their knowledge and skills in prevention, intervention and student support, contributing to the creation of positive and inclusive school communities.

Admission Criteria

For admission to the postgraduate study program, candidates are required to hold a Higher Education degree from a higher education institution in Greece (A.E.I., T.E.I.) or abroad (recognized by DOATAP).

Application Submission and Evaluation Process

All the above supporting documents are collected and sent to the email address info@frederick.ac.cy

Subsequently, the Program Committee evaluates the candidate’s file and officially informs them of the outcome of the procedure, sending a relevant decision approving or rejecting the registration application.

In case of approval of the application, the candidate is informed of the next steps of the procedure and receives all the necessary information for the start of their studies.
